Track and Field Event Training 

Monday 

Long & Triple Jump Academy: 7:15 – 8:15

Wednesday 

Hurdle Academy: 7:15pm – 8:15pm

Long & Triple Jump Academy:

Athletes will engage in non-stop Jump instruction. The training sessions will focused on:

1. The Approach-  We will teach the athlete how to get their body in the proper take off position

2. Take Off-  The Jumps are all about the proper angle of take off.  The proper angle of take off is base on an athletes speed, strength and center of mass.

3. Phases- The Triple Jump Phases are dependent on an athletes Strenth – Speed – Balance – Posture and Technique.

4. The Finish- to many coaches teach their athletes to kick their legs in order to complete the  Jumps.  Wrong, Finishing a Jump is the end result of doing everything correct at take off and perparing the body for landing.

5.  Long & Triple Jump Rules- To many athletes don’t understand the rules of the  LJ & TJ.  If you want to compete in an event you should know the rules!

**Athlete please bring you jump equipment to all training sessions.

Hurdle Academy 

The Sports Extra Hurdle Classes are not about jumping hurdle after hurdle. If you are looking for a place to learn and develope you hurdle skills the Sports Extra Hurdle Classes are  for you!

 

Athletes will engage in non-stop Hurdle instruction.  The training sessions will focused on:

1. The Start-  We will teach athletes how to get their body in the proper acceleration position to attack the first 3 to 4 hurdles.

2. Take Off- is all about the proper angle of take off.  The proper angle of take off is base on an athletes speed and strength.

3. Hurdle Clearance- Good hurdle clearance is a result of have a good Approach and the correct Take Off angle.

4. Hurdle Rhythm- to many coaches teach their athletes to run between the hurdles in order to 3 step.  Wrong, 3 stepping is the end result of speed and rhythm.

5. What Are Your Weaknesses?- To many athletes don’t understand their strength and weaknesses when it come to Hurdling .  If you want to compete in an event you should know what you do well and what you need to fix!
